The Oct. 2 meeting of the PebbleCreek Democratic Club brought together nearly a hundred members to hear from Attorney Robert McWhirter, candidate for Maricopa County attorney and from Michael Muscato, candidate for Congress in the eighth congressional district.
Robert J. McWhirter is a nationally and internationally known speaker and author on trial advocacy, immigration law, and the history of the Bill of Rights. He is a certified specialist in criminal law with the State Bar of Arizona and the first chair qualified to defend capital cases by the Arizona Supreme Court. In 2009, Mr. McWhirter was named a Southwest Super Lawyer, a rare instance for a public defender. Mr. McWhirter is also the 2009 recipient of the Phoenix Saint Thomas More Award and the immediate past president of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. Mr. McWhirter is the supervising criminal attorney at the ASU Alumni Law Group, a teaching law firm.
Michael Muscato is an Arizona native and son of two retired Deer Valley Unified School District teachers and brother to a U.S. Army captain. He and his wife have two young sons. He is a successful small business owner in Glendale as well as a director and crew chief for major music artists on their world concert tours. He spoke on his plans for health care, education, immigration, gun control, and serving the residents of the eighth congressional district.
