With the summer hiatus behind us, the PC Art Club’s classes calendar is full in September and October, offering an excellent way to explore new art techniques and improve your skills with talented instructors from the Greater Phoenix area. Classes are open to any resident or renter in PebbleCreek.
The following classes are offered: Please see the online listings at www.pcartclub.org/calendar for the costs, supply lists, and registration deadlines, which are usually one week before the class.
Sept. 14: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Painterly Collage in Water Media with Sherry Kimmel. Learn the art of collage with one of PebbleCreek’s most popular instructors.
Sept. 16, 23, and 30: 9 a.m. to noon. For those who want one-on-one help with a painting or drawing they are currently working on in any medium, Anthony Galto will be here three consecutive Saturday mornings. A lifelong artist and high school art teacher, he is active in several art associations in the West Valley.
Sept. 19: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mixed Media with Leslie Foley. Using a variety of materials, you will complete a finished butterfly on canvas as you learn new skills.
Sept. 21 and 22: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Solving Problems in Landscape Paintings with David Flitner. This class for experienced painters will focus on ways to bring the mood and drama of a scene to life. David works in oil, but his teaching is applicable to other media as well.
Sept. 26: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Leslie Foley returns for another mixed media art project, this time creating a Halloween themed canvas.
Oct. 5: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. An acrylic class for beginner to intermediate artists with a step-by-step tutorial by Nancy Troupe to create the bright floral painting (see image).
Oct. 12 and 19: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Abstract Textured Art with Carol MacDonald. Using acrylic paints and various materials, learn to create dynamic abstract paintings.
Oct. 17: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Leslie Foley returns for a mixed media class on mini canvases on a Christmas theme.
Oct. 21: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Watercolor class with Gina Locke.
The Art Club, which was founded 30 years ago and is the oldest club in PebbleCreek, provides residents with the opportunity to explore the fine arts. Whether you are a person who “can’t draw a straight line” or a seasoned artist with years of experience, we urge you to explore the opportunities available to you.
