Our snowbird friends are returning, summer is coming to an end and the cooler weather is setting in. Our monthly Board meetings started up again in September and I am happy to say we had several club members attending.
Get ready for our Missed September Social/Tournament which is Friday, October 2. Due to the heat in September we postponed any socials until October. Check-in is between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. with coffee and fruit served before we play. Play begins at 9:15 a.m. John Flynn has another great format for 72 players to mix, match and rotate. A delicious lunch is served by Jeanne Schimmelpfennig at 11:30 a.m. It will be an exciting kick-off for the fall season.
Our next social/tournament is a Halloween event! Saturday morning, October 31, is actually Halloween so we expect a lot of creative costumes from everyone! (Coming dressed up as a tennis player doesn’t work). More details are on our website and when you read this it won’t be too late to sign up.
It’s not too late to donate racquets and bags you want to give for the youth programs at the Parks and Recreation Department. Kevin Lyons the Pro thanks everyone who has donated equipment for the youth. To date we have collected around 20 racquets and several bags. The Tennis Board thanks everyone for helping our community. Keep digging!
The men’s drop-in tennis has continued throughout the summer. The guys meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:00 a.m. at Eagle’s Nest courts. Grab your gear and come to play, meet new tennis friends and have friendly competitive games. Watch for time changes as we head into cooler weather. Women’s drop-in will resume in the fall. It is every Wednesday morning on Eagle’s Nest courts, time TBD. More information posted on our website. Thursday night mixed doubles and the comfort court program is on Thursday nights on Tuscany Courts. Email Bernadine Helriegel at [email protected] to reserve your spot. More information is posted on our website.
