With Eagle’s Nest Ballroom still closed to our Sunday services, our PebbleCreek Community Church is focused both on how best to serve our community in these times, and how to improve our services once we are able to return to normal. And, of course, as you read this October edition of our PebbleCreek Post, we are thinking of the return of many snowbirds and how best to serve their needs.
Our Sunday services and twice weekly Words of Encouragement on our website, www.churchpcc.org, are focused on current needs within our community. But with the pause in personal gatherings, we are considering technology and how to improve our services in the future. On Sundays, we project images and songs on the walls on either side of the stage in the ballroom, but our projectors are old, require too much time in set-up, and result in wires running across the floor—clearly room for improvement! Working with our HOA, we are finding better answers to these needs, as well as upgrading the sound system. Because we now project songs in lieu of handing out our 200 hymnals, we are donating those books and using the carts on which they were stored for our new Christian library. Also on our website are book reports on some of the volumes in our new library.
Zoom is, of course, a word we now all know in the context of online meetings. Over the summer, one of our men’s Bible studies has continued via Zoom with participants all over the country. Our Education Committee is now planning for the fall start-up of our many Bible study groups, some of which will likely move forward with in-person, appropriately distanced, and masked meetings, and some of which will continue via Zoom. As we do each year with the start of our new Bible study groups in October, we invite all within our community who have an interest to join with these small study groups. As plans are solidified, they will be posted on our website, or you may contact Mary McFarland at [email protected] or 651-428-9212 for information.
We’re no different from all within our wonderful PebbleCreek community in that we miss the personal contact. We’re looking forward to shaking hands and hugging once again!
