It was Thursday evening, March 21. The ballroom was all set up. Everything was in place. Phyllis Minsuk and Linda Strauss Lewis arranged Purim related pictures at each table. The setting was perfectly staged.
Then they started to arrive. Members had the option of coming in costume. Anything related to the Purim holiday. Some came as Queen Esther, others as Mordechai or Haman or even King Ahasuerus. Allen Levine was there with his trusty camera to capture people dressed for the occasion.
The mood was festive as Carl Schatz, dressed as King Ahasuerus, wooed the crowd as master of ceremony. Our very own Esther Schatz played the role of Queen Esther and did a fabulous job in the reading of the Megillah. She entertained members while coordinating the reading with a delightful game.
Lots of laughs were shared during the Queen Esther pageant. To make things interesting, contestants were only men, creatively coordinated by Joan Grube.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal. A committee of women made mouth-watering hamantaschen. They included: Jill Burnham, Shari Baer, Marsha Taplin, Gail Drucker, Ricki Isador, Martha Bergman, Brenda Hyman and Hermine Sulzberg.
Thank you, Jill Burnham, for orchestrating this wonderful event!
