State-of-the-Art Fitness Center at Robson Reserve

Here at Robson Reserve, our fitness center is open 24 hours a day and boasts a full line of Keiser strength equipment, dumbbells, resistance bands, SciFit treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, an UBE (upper body ergometer), and NuSteps. The Keiser strength equipment differs from the weight-stack strength equipment in most gyms. It is based on hydraulics (air) instead of a bulky, loud weight stack. With hydraulics, you have a more consistent and controlled resistance compared to free weights or weight machines. Due to the consistent and uniform resistance, the muscles have to remain active and engaged throughout the entire range of motion, which reduces injury and eliminates the shock loading to connective tissues and joints. This may sound complicated, but the best part of these machines is that they are easy to use!

Besides a state-of-the-art fitness center that residents can use at any time, Robson Reserve also offers a variety of fitness classes geared toward all physical fitness levels. The main focus is functional fitness and fall prevention. The core fitness components of our classes include muscle strength and power, balance, and mobility. We currently have two full-time Life Enrichment team members who teach our fitness classes and personal training sessions. They are degreed in kinesiology/exercise science, are certified strength conditioning specialists, are fall-proof balance and mobility instructors, and are functional aging specialists. Not only do they teach a variety of land-based exercises, they are also in the pool teaching aquatic fitness and aquatic balance functional mobility four days a week.
