Did you attend the Majority Rules event on February 2? What a fun evening. The food was delicious. Simple fried chicken and veggies never tasted so good! After dinner Mellissa Kallett lit the stage with her entertaining game of Majority Rules. What a wonderful way to spend the night. Thank you, Jill Burnham, for organizing this activity.

The Phoenix Walking Tour, sponsored by Taste it Tours, was a culinary delight. We spent about three hours strolling through downtown Phoenix stopping at historical landmarks. A brief and interesting synopsis was provided at each of these locations. We sat and ate at various restaurants tasting their signature dishes. Restaurants included: Cornish Pasty Company, Thai Basil Signature, Chico Malo and the Phoenix Public Market Café for dessert. We all had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

Many club members will attend the March 10 trip to the Western Spirit: Scottsdale Museum to the West where they will view the Smithsonian film, Mighty Train: The Canadian. A tour will follow exhibiting the history and cultural heritage of the West. A delicious lunch at Bootlegger restaurant is planned to complete the day. Jerry Hausner organized this day trip.

This is it! Our big annual event, Esther, Mordecai, Haman and The King Purim Party on Thursday, March 21 at Eagle’s Nest Ballroom starting at 6:00 p.m. (cash bar) 6:30 p.m. (dinner). We’ll have games, contests, prizes, delicious food and homemade hamantaschen.

The best will be the Megillah Reading by our own special “Queen Esther” the infamous, Esther Schatz! Many men will be competing in the Queen Esther Beauty Contest. Costumes are optional. Join us for a fabulous evening!

Hope you were lucky to sign up for the West Valley Shalom Clubs’ Nosh–Play, scheduled for March 24 at Sun City West Foundation Hall, organized by Joan Grube.

April will be here before you know it. Mark your calendar for our Passover Seder, April 20 at Tuscany Falls, Chianti Room. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Seder Services, led by Sandy and David Mednick, begin at 5:45 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m.

A committee is in the process of creating a second Shalom Club Cookbook. Cookbooks will sell for $12 each with a discount for multiple purchases. Please go to the Shalom Club homepage to submit your favorite recipes.

Our next general meeting will take place on Sunday, March 10. Snacks and drinks will be served at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
