Mike Crabtree, active in innumerable club activities, a tournament player and 2014 vice president of the PebbleCreek Pickleball Club, was elected its new president for 2015. Elected along with Mike to the Board of Directors were Pat Murphy vice president, Gordon Cooper treasurer, Julie Cardinale secretary and Bob Oswald Member at Large, a new club office.

Outgoing President Bill Pardue who has, with quiet patience, overseen the construction of our 12 new courts (there are now 20) ran the annual election meeting in seamless fashion. Approximately 100 members attended.

During the meeting held on November 10 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom, the membership also approved allowing the Board to spend up to $20,000 for court enhancements and kept dues at the rate of $20 per year for members.

Following his election, Mike Crabtree sent out the following email to the club’s approximately 850 members:

“Thank you for electing me president of the PebbleCreek Pickleball Club. I was heartened to receive a majority of the votes. (Did I mention that I was unopposed?)”

“We are looking forward to fulfilling the club’s stated purpose which is ‘to promote the sport of pickleball and provide a healthy, enjoyable recreational activity for Pebble Creek residents.’”

“With twenty courts to work with we plan to provide expanded opportunities for Drop In play, Round Robin Play, Ladder Play, Intraclub Tournaments, Training and Skill Building and Social Events.”

“To accomplish all of the above will require additional man and woman-power from you. We will soon post a request for volunteers on our website. There you will have the opportunity to indicate with which activities you are willing to help. If you don’t want to mess with the website just call me at 678-361-9024 or send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll point you in the right direction. We’re not looking for a big time commitment, nor does it matter that you are a snowbird or will be gone all of December and half of January. It can be as little as helping to keep score at a 4Wins Tournament or helping to set tables for a social. It’s a great opportunity to meet your fellow pickleball players as well. That’s how my wife Sandy and I started when we moved here.”

“I look forward to seeing you on the courts.”
