Most everyone had childhood dreams of what they wanted to be when they grew up. Much fewer can say they are living out their dreams. Kristyn Meulenberg, of Meulenberg Law Office, is one of the exceptions. Kristyn grew up in a law-loving home. Her father was a police officer for 30 years in the city of Port Huron, Michigan. Her mother left her job as a nurse to attend law school and had a successful career as an attorney. This foundation placed Kristyn in front of many great influences and experiences. From an early age, she enjoyed doing ride-alongs with her father and his team. As she got older, she became a Junior Cadet with the city and started getting to know many of the area judges and attorneys, solidifying her love of the law. This passion led to the decision to become an attorney. After getting her Bachelor’s from Western Michigan University, she went on to Thomas Cooley Law School, where she earned a full-ride scholarship. Kristyn graduated in the top 10% of her class, and began working for a local law-firm where she learned first-hand what it means to serve her clients’ best interests ahead of her own. It was also here that Kristyn realized her love of estate planning, centered around a passion for making certain her clients had a plan in place to ensure their legacy reflected their wishes.
She and her family moved to the West Valley in 2016 and she took the tools she had acquired working for a firm to begin her own practice. It is important for her that her clients are comfortable and never pressured, so she runs a mobile practice, where she offers to meet in her client’s home or a place of their choice. She believes this helps them to feel in control of their plan. She also takes great pride in her follow-up communication with clients. Rather than simply create a document and never be heard from again, she follows up with her clients to make sure that all steps have been taken by the client to ensure the document is properly enforced.
