Although it was one of our recent windy days, Men’s Drop-In Tennis still had their annual picnic. In spite of the wind, it did not discourage the players, their spouses, and significant others from having a great day of enjoying Italian wines and some favorite Italian foods from Maggiano’s Little Italy.
Lou Tronzo was at his usual hilarious Oscar-like performance with the annual “award winning” trophies. He recognized three outstanding players for the year 2021-22: Rellen Jones for his hard serves, Mike Jordan for his best overhead smash, and Bill Schroeder for receiving “tennis player of the year” award. One thing was for sure, there was no face slapping at this event—just Lou’s usual humorous character comments.
The planned afternoon entertainment would have been a perfect ending to this picnic with the performance by America’s Western Sweetheart Belinda Gail, were it not for the high windy conditions preventing her from singing. However, not all was lost as she joined us for the food, wine, and presentations. It was an opportunity to meet and be with her—a real treat and joy!
A special thanks to Sig Mueller for the cannoli dessert he made and to Peter Jeziorski for bringing bottles of Italian wines to go along with the food and desserts.
