On May 2 ten members from the Men’s Christian Fellowship went to the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Hope for Hunger Food Bank in Glendale to do an outreach project. Several members of the Fellowship spent the morning filling shopping carts with a variety of food items. Other members of the team then helped Food Bank’s recipients load the food into their cars. Over the morning 139 persons/families were served. The Fellowship members agreed this was a worthwhile, rewarding outreach project.
The Phoenix Rescue Mission began operating the food bank last November when the food bank was in danger of closing down. The Hope for Hunger Food Bank works with the Association of Food Banks as well as St. Mary’s Food Bank. Each year the Fellowship does at least one outreach project involving the Phoenix Rescue Mission.
The next meeting of the Men’s Christian Fellowship will be held on October 3. Information on the meeting will be available in September in the PebbleCreek Post, on PebbleCreek’s bulletin boards and on the PebbleCreek E-group.
