The PebbleCreek Men’s and Ladies’ Nine-Hole Golf Associations kicked off April with a “Country Hoedown” mixer, bringing the two clubs together for an April 11 event at Tuscany Falls West. The combined clubs fielded 35 four-person teams in four flights. At stake was over $1,100 in prize money. The format was a two-low-net shamble, with all members using the best team drive and playing their own ball to the hole.
Flight One was taken by the team of Barb Miller, James Mitchell, Kathy Domagala, and Keith F. Anolick, while the foursome of Kathy Vienna, Bob Brett, Sally Melzow, and Randy Prinz prevailed in Flight Two. Nancy Runyon, Bruce Hacker, Mary Lynne Carson, and Robert Gunn took top honors in Flight Three, and the final flight was won by Kris Robinson, Loren Norgaard, Lynn Bishop Pidcock, and James Stahl.
The “Country Hoedown” would not have been possible without the help of numerous volunteers. Special mention must go to Bill Lansing and Patti Engelhardt who jointly planned the golf event.
Later in April the Niners hosted a “Spring Celebration Tournament,” featuring Minnesota Two-Ball. Team scoring was based on the two low-net scores on each hole. Thirty-one teams in four flights participated in the event.
The team of Gary Ruehl, Patrick Sherlock, Casey Jones, and David Wattenberg were winners of Flight One, with Tom Edward Johnson, Fred Schwartz, Dave Nicholson, and Ken Knox taking Flight Two. Flight Three went to Rene Lefebvre, Trevor Ballinger, Clifford Crooks, and Pete Paris. The team of Eric Rohlman, Duane Scott, David French, and Maury Wulbrecht won Flight Four.
In April the PCM9GA recognized the top golf handicap improvement of club members during calendar year 2022. A player must have posted at least 10 rounds during the year to be evaluated.
The top five PCM9GA Most Improved Golfers for 2022 included Scott Crawford, Ken Whitney, Bernie Bangert, Randy Prinz, and Ray Clements. Each was awarded a $20 PebbleCreek gift card. Congratulations to these hard-working golfers.
