Rayma Scalzo
We are pleased to have Laurie Fox present a Memory Training Class to our Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Discussion Group on Saturday, January 21 at 9:30 a.m. As a caregiver it is important for your memory to be good but certain tricks may even help your loved one with a memory problem remember things.
The Memory Training Class is a fun interactive one-hour class. There will be tips given for improving memory as well as a hand-out for notes to take away for continued practice at home.
Laurie has been in the non-medical field since 1999 in Maricopa County. She is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) trained as a memory care trainer for Banner Alzheimer’s Institute as well as a facilitator for an Alzheimer’s/Dementia support group at Grace Bible Church. She also serves on the management team of the West Valley Professionals’ Roundtable and a large women-only networking group in Sun City.
Laurie enjoys working at Homewatch Caregivers assessing cases and helping families find solutions for their loved ones. She always says “It’s personal” as she was the POA for over seven years for her mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. Laurie resides in Peoria, Arizona.
Following the presentation, our time will be spent with members asking questions or sharing experiences. Our group provides information, resources and comfort for those residents who are caregivers for loved ones who have Alzheimer’s or any type of dementia. They could live in the home, at a local care facility or out of state.
Respite Care
We may be able to provide free respite care for those having Alzheimer’s/Dementia disease. This allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group meeting. If you let us know, we will try to arrange for someone to come to your home during the two hour meeting. For this assistance, we do ask that you RSVP by Thursday, January 19.
Monthly Breakfast
The caregivers meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of each month. This gives them an opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. Knowing others who are going through the same journey is very beneficial.
Please note: Our meetings are for Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregivers only. For the location of the meeting or to RSVP for respite care, please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send an email to [email protected].
