May Meeting for Republican Club Includes a Familiar Face in a New Role

Jenna Ridgeway

The regular meeting of the PebbleCreek (PC) Republican Club on Thursday, May 1 will introduce a familiar face in his newly elected role. Justin Heap is now our Maricopa County recorder and will discuss his new role and how it impacts our lives.

Justin Heap will tell us why the Maricopa County Elections take longer to count than nearly any jurisdiction in America. Voters deserve accurate election results quickly, with transparency, lawfulness and honesty. Since his election in 2024, he is fighting to strengthen the election integrity and to restore voter confidence by implementing policies that will ensure clean and accurate voter rolls.

Tom Horne and Shelli Boggs: Featured Speakers at May 17 Bonus Meeting

Tom Horne, Arizona’s current Superintendent of Public Instruction and Shelli Boggs, Maricopa’s Superintendent of Schools, will be the featured speakers at our PC Republican Club Bonus Meeting, on Saturday, May 17 at Eagle’s Nest Ballroom with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.

Tom Horne graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College and with honors from Harvard Law School. He served on the board of the state’s third-largest school, Paradise Valley Unified School District for 24 years, including 10 years as president. Horne was elected Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2003 and served two terms. As Attorney General, he defended state preemption of firearms regulation and proposed legislation to allow teachers to carry guns in public schools. He sued community colleges to end their policy of providing in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants.

Horne announced his campaign for a third term as Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2021 and won the election in 2022. He sued the governor, attorney general, and a school district over English-language learner education in 2023. He is running again for this position in 2026.

Shelli Boggs is committed to bringing her experience, record of success, and proven leadership to the office of Maricopa County School Superintendent to improve the educational experience. Shelli’s priorities are to ensure that the schoolchildren of Maricopa County get the education they need to succeed in life, that politics are removed from classrooms, parental rights are defended, to ensure fiscal accountability is restored, that school board vacancies are filled with responsible leaders, and that good teachers are being supported.
