Jim Padgitt
For more than two decades, handyman extraordinaire Marv Schrock has been a popular choice for helping PebbleCreek residents solve hundreds of household repair problems. Now recently retired, Marv has put his hammer, electric drill, pliers, and other handyman tools away in favor of a different tool: His trusty 58-inch long, solid maple pool cue.
Over the past two months, Marv used his pool cue in expert fashion to win the fall 9-Ball Pocket Billiards Tournament hosted at the Tuscany Falls Billiard Room. (Round-robin tournaments consist of 8 mini-tourney events played across 8 consecutive weeks.)
Marv earned the fall Grand Championship title by winning four of eight weekly mini-tourneys, racking up 46 wins in 76 games played, and accumulating 58 points. For his championship effort, Marv received a gift certificate redeemable at a popular local restaurant.
Earning second and third place tournament finishes were Jim Padgitt (38 wins, 41 points) and Mike Finnegan (24 wins, 27 points). Other 9-Ball competitors include Clay Beeson, Joe Armbruster, Bill Wise, and Butch Schoen.
9-Ball tourneys are played in the Tuscany Falls Billiard Room Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. 8-Ball tournament play convenes Monday afternoons at 2 p.m. To join the PC Billiard Club, pick up a member application and postage-paid reply envelope at the Billiard Room on the west side of the Tuscany Falls clubhouse, just down the hallway from Renaissance Theater.
