There have been so many exciting changes in The Tennis Club this summer. Our new website and Court Reservation System has been in full swing since August 1 and is very well received. Members continue to get registered and are reserving courts and the ball machine. The Home Page has all the easy links. Upcoming Events gives you information about our club socials with dates and times and easy sign up with one click. Our Christmas party gala is scheduled for December 19 at Eagle’s Nest Ballroom; one easy click will get you signed up. There are continuous construction updates on our new courts 16 and 17 and changes at Eagle’s Nest Courts. Monthly Board meeting minutes are posted along with the Handbook of bylaws and rules. Explore the picture gallery with new pictures every month. More information will be coming as we start gearing up for fall. Thanks to Dan Lichtenfeld, webmaster and Jill Santy, assistant webmaster, for many months of hard work before and after August 1.
Construction on 16 and 17 continues to progress as post tension slabs have been poured. It is exciting to get two more tennis courts that will be completed soon. New score cards on Tuscany Courts with home and away tags add a touch of class! As soon as the construction of the new bocce courts at Eagle’s Nest is completed, the entire area in front of the tennis courts will be landscaped.
The snowbirds are returning and a Big Welcome Back Big Babies social was scheduled on September 20; more details in next month’s issue.
League play competition is starting up in October. General programs have continued throughout the summer and continue year round. Thursday night Mixed Doubles (3.0 plus) is 7:15 p.m. on Tuscany Courts at the same time the Comfort Court program (for beginners and returning from injury) which is going strong. To sign up, email Bernadine Helriegel before noon Tuesday at [email protected] and specify which program. Men’s drop-in (just come and play) is open to all skill levels and play is every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:00 a.m. on Eagle’s Nest Courts. Contact Ken Minichiello at 419-356-4010 for any questions. Ladies drop-in (just come and play) is open to all skill levels and play is every Wednesday 8:30 a.m. on Eagle’s Nest Court three and four. Tennis Club meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Tuscany Tennis Center. Jerry Santy is our club president and can be contacted at 623-271-7996 for any questions or issues.
Tennis Club membership is $30 a year which includes league play, use of ball machine and participation in club socials. A social membership is $15 a year which covers club socials. August 1 through December 31 we reduce fees to $15 and $7.50.
