P.E.O. Chapter DM is presenting the 12th annual scholarship benefit, Books ‘N Lunch, to be held at the Christ Presbyterian Church, 925 N. Sarival Ave, on Saturday, March 22, at 11:30 a.m. Many members of chapter DM reside in PebbleCreek. There will be two local authors speaking about their careers and their books.
Karen Robbins, a resident of PebbleCreek, has devoted her life to educating and entertaining children as an elementary teacher, Romper Room TV Teacher, mother of four sons, award-winning children’s author, publisher, book/toy designer and inventor with a U.S. patent. Karen is a right brain creative whose passion is creating books and toys for children. She specializes in young children and believes all children need to learn to read. She has been a longtime member of several organizations devoted to learning, including SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators). She is also a member of Women in Toys and the Authors Guild. She currently continues to create and write for children in support of literacy.
Also joining us as a speaker is Elizabeth Hutchison Bernard, who is an award-winning author of historical fiction. Her 2023 release, “Sisters of Castle Leod,” is an Amazon Kindle #1 Bestseller (historical Biographical Fiction, Historical Literary Fiction), winner of the 2023 Maxy Award for Historical and Adventure Fiction, and an Editors’ Choice of the Historical Novel Society. This biographical novel about two famous Edwardian-era sisters of the Scottish Highlands is Book 1 of the series Historic Women of the Highlands. “The Seaforth Heiress: Lady of the Last Prophecy” is Book 2, released July 25, 2024. Elizabeth’s historical mystery-thriller was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Book Award (Historical Fiction).
This promises to be an interesting and enjoyable event where the authors will talk about their work and background and take questions from the audience.
