Thanks to the PebbleCreek HOA, LifeLong Learning now has its own space, a move that opens up meeting rooms in the Eagle’s Nest and Tuscany Clubhouses for the many clubs and groups that gather during the busy season.
“As PebbleCreek grows, it is increasingly difficult to accommodate all the requests for rooms from clubs, committees, card groups and others,” said Traci Baker, Director of Community Activities and Communications at PebbleCreek. “Now that LifeLong Learning will be able to hold almost all their classes in their new location, there will be more than 70 additional opportunities for other groups to meet next year.”
LifeLong Learning’s new center is the former dance studio at the Eagle’s Nest Activities Center, which the HOA offered to LifeLong Learning when the new Tuscany Fitness Studios opened. LLL will use the room for classes, meetings for the LLL volunteer teams, sales and registration and as an office.
“Having a dedicated space in PebbleCreek will enable our organization to function much more efficiently,” said LLL Co-Chair Phyllis Minsuk. LifeLong Learning is already holding many meetings to plan next season’s trips, classes, lectures and special events in the new room and volunteers are moving the supplies and files that have been stored in their homes to the central location so they are accessible to the full team.
“We plan to have the room staffed most mornings so residents can easily register for programs and purchase tickets for Premier Lectures,” Minsuk said.
The room remains under the control of the HOA and will be used by HOA staff and other groups when it is not needed by LifeLong Learning.
“For many of our residents, LifeLong Learning’s lectures, trips, classes and special events are the highlights of their busy schedules,” said John Kiekbusch, president of the PebbleCreek HOA. “Not only does providing this space to LifeLong Learning create more space for other clubs, it will also allow LifeLong Learning to expand its offerings.”
“The HOA has been incredibly helpful in helping us get the room ready for business,” Minsuk said. “The HOA purchased a projector and screen to use for classes, will be removing the mirrors and painting the room and provided temporary furniture that was no longer being used in the clubhouses.
While these furnishings enable the organization to function during the off-season, it plans to purchase classroom tables and chairs that are durable and have long warranty periods against damage.
“Earlier this year LifeLong Learning became a 501(c)(3) organization, enabling us to accept charitable donations,” Minsuk said. The organization is putting together a list of the specific items it needs and their cost and will post it on the website at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org.
