LLL Center December hours and gift certificates
The LLL Center will be open weekdays from December 3-14, 9:00 a.m. to noon. The Center will be closed the last two weeks in December.
Volunteers will be available to assist you in registering for Premier Lectures, classes, trips and special events. Holiday gift certificates, available in any denomination you want, will be available for sale and make gift giving easy and educational, all at the same time. Volunteers will also be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Space available on trips and in classes in December and January
While many of the trips LifeLong Learning scheduled this season sold out early, there is still space on four trips that have never been offered before.
Do you know what the judges look for when judging cattle and other animals? Join LifeLong Learning on Saturday, December 29 for the trip to the Arizona National Livestock Show. Prior to boarding the bus you’ll have a short lesson on the jargon, judging and how the competition operates.
On Tuesday, January 22 immerse yourself in aviation, past and present, by touring Mesa’s Falcon Field and the Commemorative Air Force Museum.
Or you may prefer to rock and roll during lunch and a matinee performance at Barleen’s Dinner Show on Saturday, January 26.
Also in January, you can learn the art of relaxing in the Drumming and Meditation class on Wednesday, January 9, or brush up on foreign affairs in Great Decisions, the nine-week discussion group of critical issues facing America. There are still spaces in some of the sections.
More information about these trips and classes is available online at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org and at the LLL Center, which will be open Monday-Friday from 9:00 to noon the first two weeks of December. As space is limited in these classes and trips, we suggest you register early.
Special programs for special people
LifeLong Learning offers several free programs each year to thank the community for its support. While the programs are free, registration is required. See which of these special programs are right for you!
PC Reads is a free book discussion group that meets the first Thursday of every month from 5:00-6:30 p.m. On December 6 the group will discuss The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict, while the book for January 3 is The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. Registration is required and opens 30 days before the event.
The next TED Talks meetings are December 13 and January 10 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Palm Room at Eagle’s Nest. The TED Talks team has selected outstanding videos for you to watch and then discuss. Although the Talks are free, registration is required and opens 30 days before the event.
This season the Sunday Series will celebrate three diverse cultures through their music. The first program is from 2:00-3:30 p.m. January 27 and celebrates gospel music. Candice Chavez, a gospel singer, will perform and give some background about the genre. The program is free but registration, which opens 30 days prior to the event, is required. LLL asks that a non-perishable food item be brought for donation to the St. Mary’s Food Bank.
Registration for each of these events can be completed 30 days before its date at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org or by going to the LLL Center daily from 9:00 a.m.-noon during the first two weeks in December.
