LifeLong Learning – September 2025

PC Reads October Selection Is “The Briar Club”

Kate Quinn

“The Briar Club” is the powerful and haunting story of female friendships and secrets in a Washington, D.C., boarding house during the McCarthy era. Kate Quinn is the New York Times bestselling author of The Diamond Eye and The Rose Code. She is one of the best historical fiction writers working today.

The group will meet to discuss the book on Thursday, Oct. 2., at 4 p.m. in the LifeLong Learning (LLL) Activity Center. To join the discussion you need to register for the class. Go to the LifeLong Learning site at lifelonglearningatpc.org and then go to PC Reads. This is a casual group that was started for PebbleCreekers who want to discuss books they have read. You can come once, or monthly. If you have any questions, you can contact Pat Jensen at patjensenmom@gmail.com.

The volunteers at LifeLong Learning have been busy over the summer planning a great, new season of classes, speakers and trips. They are starting up Sept. 16 with a Korean noodles cooking class, which has already sold out!

Registration opens Sept. 1, however, for these fall classes coming up soon:

History of Goodyear, Oct. 8, brings history buff Mark Pelletier back to explain how Goodyear, and neighboring Litchfield Park and Avondale, have developed during their past, colorful 77 years.

Cooking Korean Yangnyeom Chicken, Oct. 14, has Julia Kim returning to demonstrate how to use essential ingredients and seasonings for this chicken dish, and to invite students to sample the entree and take home a new recipe.

Golf-Cart Basics, Oct. 23, features golf-cart conversion-and-repair expert Doug Adair’s informative class on buying, owning and maintaining a golf cart, as well as various battery types. This class will be repeated Nov. 20.
