LifeLong Learning is presenting two enlightening Monday Morning Lectures (MMLs) in November. One highlights Goodyear’s Fire Department, and the other explores Arizona’s ancient petroglyphs.

There is no need to register for MMLs—just pay $5 at the door the morning of each lecture, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Tuscany Falls Renaissance Theater. All PebbleCreekers are invited to come.

Here are the Monday Morning Lectures coming up in November:

Nov 7: Goodyear Fire Department—How It Operates and Its Safety Programs For Residents. Get to know the Goodyear Fire Department with Fire Chief Paul Luizzi and Tanya Tanner, community education coordinator for fire and safety. Learn about the department, as well as its Home Safe Program, including its Home Safety Survey of residents’ homes.

Nov 14: Petroglyphs in Arizona—Southwest Rock Calendars/Ancient Timepieces. Archeologist Allen Dart will explain how the discovery of petroglyphs have helped us understand many ancient Native American rituals.

Detailed descriptions, dates, and times for each lecture appear at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org. In addition, homeowners may pick up printed schedules—of LLL’s entire 2022-2023 season of all its events—at both clubhouse entry desks and nearby flier racks; in the HOA Activities Center; and in Robson’s new home sales office.

Premier Lectures Reminder

A limited number of seats remain available for both the afternoon and evening Premier Lectures on Nov. 5, for Andrew Friedenberg’s exploration of movie-making behind the scenes. Registration opened Sept. 1 at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org.

After a holiday break, Premier Lectures will resume Jan. 5, 2023, with an opportunity to meet Theodore Roosevelt (or at least his live portrayer, Joe Wigand), followed by a review Jan. 27 of the United States healthcare system. Does the U.S. really have the best healthcare system in the world? Registration for January Premier Lectures opens Nov. 1 at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org.

December Classes Focus on LLL’s Mission

Timothy Pisarski

The PebbleCreek community organization, LifeLong Learning, continues its 2022-23 season with a variety of eight classes in December.

Experts living within PebbleCreek teach LLL’s well-received classes, embodying the organization’s core value of volunteerism. Early registration at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org is recommended, as class size is limited, and classes often sell out quickly.

The December classes being offered at the LifeLong Learning Center are:

Dec. 1 and 8—Genealogy research using census records

Dec. 1—What is crime?

Dec. 6—Gifting gemstones

Dec. 13—Baguettes—You can be a baker, too!

Dec. 14—What do we do with criminals?

Dec. 14—Secrets of tamale cooking

Dec. 15—Genealogy research using church records

Detailed descriptions, dates, and times for each class appear at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org. In addition, homeowners may pick up printed schedules of LLL’s entire 2022-2023 season of all its events—at both clubhouse entry desks and nearby flier racks; in the HOA Activities Center; and in Robson’s new home sales office.

Fit More Fun into Life

Bill Nee

True fun is radiant. By enhancing your life with more playfulness, connection, and flow, you will be more joyful, happy, and glowing, according to science journalist Catherine Price.

Price wants us to have a larger, daily dose of fun. Fun is not just enjoyable; it is also essential for our health and well-being. She proposes a new definition of fun, what she calls “true fun,” and shares easy, evidence-backed ways to weave more lighthearted playfulness, flow, and interaction with other human beings into our everyday lives.

She wants us to prioritize more time for fun with people, doing activities that we enjoy, and PebbleCreek is just the place to do that.
