On Feb. 13, four ladies from the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) headed south for a lively inter-club matchup against five opponents from CantaMia (CM). The format featured two fast-paced short-rack 8-ball singles matches, with each PCBC player facing every CM player once—creating 20 games per match and plenty of action for everyone.
PCBC dominated the day (perhaps because luck was with them on Friday the 13th?), sweeping both matches and claiming a decisive 25-15 game advantage overall.
Short-rack 8-ball delivers all the strategy and excitement of classic 8-ball but in a condensed, high-energy format: just four solids, four stripes, and the 8-ball, racked in a diamond like 9-ball. With fewer balls on the table, games move quickly, racks reset faster, and every player gets more shots and table time—perfect for friendly yet competitive play.
In the opening match, PCBC burst out to an impressive 8-2 lead. Though CM mounted a determined comeback, PCBC held firm to win 12-8. Rochelle Zuckerbrow starred for PCBC, going 4-1 and posting the match’s top record.
The second match followed a similar script: PCBC jumped ahead 7-3 early and never looked back, securing a 13-7 victory. Rochelle Zuckerbrow and Kathy Smith both shone brightly for PCBC, each finishing 4-1. For CM, Claudia Deardorff delivered a standout performance, winning all her games.
The afternoon captured everything that makes these inter-club events special: fierce competition balanced with laughter, mutual respect, and warm camaraderie. As the players shared hugs, handshakes, and goodbyes, both sides were already buzzing about a rematch—scheduled for next month.
