Kitty Shildt to address nutrition at Breast Cancer meeting

Rayma Scalzo

We are so pleased to let you know that Kitty Shildt, a registered dietician, will be speaking to our Breast Cancer Discussion Group meeting on January 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Capri Room at the Tuscany Clubhouse. She received her dietetics degree and her Master of Nutritional Science degree at Oklahoma State University. Past work experience includes working with cancer patients from 1999 to 2004 at Cancer Care Associates of Tulsa. She also did nutrition education for the Senior Nutrition Program in Tulsa County and private counseling in weight management and sports and fitness nutrition. Kitty is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). She will be offering suggestions for seniors to get optimal nutrition from their diet.

Kitty is married to Richard Shildt, a medical Oncologist, who works part time at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Both are residents of PebbleCreek. They are a fabulous couple and have done so much for the Breast Cancer Support Group and the community. Dr. Shildt will also be present at our meeting to answer questions you may have.

The purpose of our group is to provide support through sharing of common experiences and knowledge and to let you know you’re not alone. If you’ve found a breast lump or mass and don’t know what to do, please call us. If you are facing possible surgery, recovering from surgery, thinking about reconstruction or just need someone to talk to, please call us. If you are a long term survivor, we’d like to have you join us, too. Your experience and knowledge can help newly diagnosed members get through their treatment. You may also learn a few things along the way that you might find helpful.

A Special Gift May Be Waiting For You!

It is so important that we hear from any residents who have treatment pending as we have a special pillow, made by the PebbleCreek Quilters, that we would like to give to you. The ladies who have used the pillows say they offer so much comfort immediately following surgery or reconstruction. If you call us, we want you to know the conversation will be kept confidential. You do not have to become a member of our discussion group to receive one so please don’t miss out on this wonderful gift. A special thanks to the quilters for making this gift possible.

This is a meeting you don’t want to miss! How lucky we are to have both Dr. Shildt and Kitty at our meeting. Also, please plan on joining us for lunch at Toscana’s following the meeting to get to know others going through the same journey.
