This Is a Feel-Good Opportunity to Help a Neighbor!
Maureen Plate
Kare Bears is in dire need of PebbleCreek volunteer drivers who are willing to take residents to medically related appointments.
Facts you should know if you are interested in becoming a driver:
1. You can choose as little or as much as you want to drive.
2. You can choose how far you want to drive or how often.
3. You can choose not to drive a resident requiring medical equipment.
4. You will use your own vehicle to transport to and from medically related doctor’s appointments.
5. Your insurance is primary and Kare Bears insurance is secondary.
6. If you choose, you can be reimbursed by Kare Bears for mileage per the current IRS rate.
To apply, please complete a Volunteer Form at www.karebears.org. For questions, call the Kare Bears House at 623-536-1200.
Thank you for your kind consideration of this plea.
Health & Wellness Activities and Training
Mai Nacht
On May 10, Kare Bears Health & Wellness offered its first Stretch in the Park session at Sunrise Park, Eagle’s Nest. Residents came out at 8 a.m. to stretch for the day’s activities under the helpful eye of the graduate students of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program from Franklin Pierce University.
Dr. Letha Zook and her students assisted our residents to keep their balance and position their bodies for good stretches. When the work was done, our residents joined the students to demonstrate a few nice dance moves to the music. This program will be repeated in the fall season.
The next program for Kare Bears Health & Wellness is CPR/AED training on July 21. Registration will be available at the beginning of July. For more information, visit the Kare Bears website at karebears.org.
