Kare Bears Korner: Health & Wellness Fair Canceled
Dee-Dee Patrick MS, RN, Director of Kare Bears’ Health & Wellness
The decision has been made to cancel the February 2023 Kare Bears’ Health & Wellness Fair due to the warnings issued by the CDC about elevated levels of respiratory illnesses such as covid-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza this upcoming winter. Volunteers should not be placed in the uncomfortable position of “policing” attendees to maintain “social distance” or evacuate the ballroom when their time is up. Lastly, we cannot mandate face masks although this physical barrier is perceived as an effective means of reducing viral spread in indoor settings.
While Kare Bears realizes the popularity of this event, I felt it was in the best interest of our PebbleCreek Community and the vendors who exhibit to not host the Health Fair, thereby preventing a potential “super-spreader” event that could place vulnerable members of our community at risk. I assume full responsibility for this decision and apologize for disappointing PebbleCreek yet another year.
Kare Bears Korner: Annual Kare Bears Meeting Set for January 25, 2023
Rayma Scalzo
We would like to announce that our annual meeting will be held on Jan. 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Yearly reports of the board of directors and treasurer will be presented, and the new directors will be announced and voted upon.
This annual meeting will be in conjunction with the regular speaker presentation at Kare Bears Presents. All residents of PebbleCreek are cordially invited to attend. It is important to learn about our organization and what it does for our community.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
Kare Bears Corner: Volunteers Needed to Distribute Source Books
Each year the Kare Bear House seeks residents to help with the distribution of the updated Source Book. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to help our community without requiring a lot of your time.
If you have volunteered in the past, you will receive an email to determine if this remains something you’re willing to participate in once again.
Additional volunteers are still needed to help out. This is especially true for our newer units as well as replacing volunteers who may have given up their position. The distribution of the Source Book is being planned for the beginning months of the new year. An exact date will be determined in the near future.
If you are willing to help, please send your name, unit number, and telephone number to Jean Kopstein at [email protected]. While we cannot guarantee you will deliver in your own unit, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We look forward to hearing from you in hopes that you will be able to participate in this volunteering opportunity.
