New board of directors
Kare Bears would like to introduce you to the 2015/2016 Board of Directors. AED/CPR class scheduled for October 23
Have you always wanted to learn CPR, but never took the time—well here’s you opportunity to learn a lifesaving technique. The class will be held on Friday, October 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom.
The AED/CPR defibrillator and resuscitation class is open to all employees and residents of PebbleCreek. The certified instructor does an excellent presentation with hands-on training in all equipment and technique.
The cost is $30 for residents and can be paid with cash or checks to AZ Pro CPR & First Aid LLC at the beginning of the class.
A sign-up sheet is in the Kare Bears folder at the Community Information Mailbox across from the Eagle’s Nest Pro Shop.

Celebrating 20 years!

Kare Bears is pleased to announce the date for the annual Fall Luncheon! “We are celebrating 20 years!” on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, starting at 10:30 a.m. with lunch being served at 11:30 a.m.
The luncheon will be highlighted by a presentation of the prestigious Founder’s Award honoring an outstanding PebbleCreek volunteer. Also the Exceptional Service Awards and the Friends of Kare Bears awards will be presented.
Ticket sales started on Wednesday, September 30. Ticket sales will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in October at the Eagle’s Nest Kiosk from 10:00 a.m. to noon until sold out.
The committee asks residents purchasing multiple tickets to provide them with a list of:
1. Each person’s name
2. Menu choice
3. Phone number
4. Payment for each ticket purchased. The cost of the luncheon is $23 per person.
The menu choices are chicken picata, terres major (beef) served with mushroom sauce or spinach artichoke crepes. All meals will include a garden salad, rolls, roasted red potatoes and California vegetable medley. There will be a spectacular birthday dessert surprise for everyone!
In the past this event has sold out very quickly, so don’t delay and be disappointed; buy your tickets early!

August donation acknowledgements
The Kare Bears Board of Directors wishes to acknowledge various donations received in August from the following residents.
Equipment Use Donations were received from Michael and Sandy Stephens, Gary Atkinson and Ronald and Patricia Hook.
A memorial contribution in memory of Beverly Nathan was received from Bette Blumenthal and another donation from Ken and Norma Klinger in memory of Bernard Novak.
The generosity and thoughtfulness of these residents will enable Kare Bears to continue to serve the needs of our PebbleCreek residents.
Flu, pneumonia and shingles shots dates announced
As part of our Kare Bears Wellness Program, we will be offering flu, pneumonia and shingles shots administered by Walgreens on several dates as shown below.
They will be administering the standard flu shots along with the high dose 65 plus flu shots, pneumonia shots and shingles shots at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom.
The dates are as follows:
Tuesday, October 6, 8:00 a.m. to noon
Thursday, October 8, 8:00 a.m. to noon
Monday, October 12, 8:00 a.m. to noon
Wednesday, October 14, 8:00 a.m. to noon
Saturday, October 24, 8:00 a.m. to noon
In general, most insurance covers the cost of the standard flu shots at 100% (Medicare does cover flu shots); however, if the shots are not covered by your insurance, the cash price for the standard flu shot is $30. The cost of the high dose 65 plus shot is to be determined. The cash price for the pneumonia shot is also to be determined. The shingles shot cost varies by insurance companies. Please check with your insurance carrier prior to signing up.

Audiology testing – October 9
As part of Kare Bears Health & Wellness programs, Costco will be offering audiology testing on Friday, October 9.
It will be held between 10:00 a.m. and noon in the Sienna Room at Tuscany Falls.

La Loma tour – October 22
Kare Bears is offering a tour and lunch on Thursday, October 22 at La Loma at 11:30 a.m. This community is located at 14154 Denny Boulevard, Litchfield Park.
La Loma is an assisted living, memory care and respite facility.
Always remember, when you need extra care, it’s best to be familiar with all the nearby communities available.
