A Beary Merry Christmas
Teri Sellers
It all began with a bear almost 25 years ago. And to start off our very special anniversary, Kare Bears is bringing back its traditional Christmas event. This year, we will be doing something very different and special. This is one event you will not want to miss!
We will celebrate Christmas this year with the residents of PebbleCreek as well as share the Christmas spirit with a number of our deserving neighbors. Our Christmas event will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom from 11 a.m. to noon.
Tickets are required for admission to this event and are free. You can get your tickets at the Eagle’s Nest Kiosk on Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or Nov. 20, from noon to 2 p.m.
There is going to be a special surprise for attendees. For this reason, we only have a limited number of seats available.
We will also be collecting teddy bears as the price of admission to this event.
These teddy bears will then be donated to the New Life Center, Abrazo Hospital, and Goodyear’s Police and Fire Departments.
Music will be provided by DJ Robert Wilson, the oldest living active DJ! He is beloved by many in the west valley.
The Kare Bear bakers will be serving up some special Christmas sweets.
For 25 years, Kare Bears has been ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors.’ The services that we provide to the residents of PebbleCreek are priceless. As we transition into our silver anniversary, we want to keep up this tradition of love and service and share some kindness in the form of teddy bears that will be given to children who need a little extra love.
If you have any questions, contact Kare Bears Program Director Teri Sellers at 602-793-0299.

Keeping with tradition, Kare Bears has been having their Fall Luncheon now for 24 years, and this year’s luncheon will take place Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Tuscany Ballroom. We would like you to be part of this ongoing event in PebbleCreek! We appreciate your support in all that we do for our community!
Income from ticket and raffle sales pays all the luncheon expenses and an annual donation to Southwest Lending Closet. The remaining money goes to:
1. Maintaining the Kare Bears house.
2. Paying volunteer drivers mileage reimbursement for driving PebbleCreek residents to and from medical appointments.
3. Support of Share Bears.
4. Trays of food platters to PebbleCreek residents when a loved one passes away.
5. Upkeep of donated medical equipment.
6. Health and wellness events.
Our programs and health & wellness projects benefit everyone in PebbleCreek and are not defined by any age group.
We have added an additional day for ticket sales on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Eagles Nest Kiosk from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
If you are out of town and not able to get a ticket within that time frame, contact Don Belonax at [email protected] by Nov. 6.
See you at the luncheon on Nov. 13.

Are you looking for a way to be of service to your community that will not require a lot of your time?
Kare Bears has a deal for you. We are in the process of recruiting residents to assist in the distribution of the 2020 Source Book. If you helped us in the past, you will be contacted via separate email, to see if you are available.
Additional volunteers are needed, especially in the newer units and to replace long time volunteers. If you would like to help, please send an email to Arlis Legler, [email protected], with your name and telephone number. We cannot guarantee that you will deliver source books in your immediate neighborhood.
The distribution of source books to the volunteers will take place on a Sunday in mid-January 2020. That date is unknown at this time.
Updated information will be in the December Post, and in PebbleNews.
