On Wednesday, April 12 Kare Bears held its annual Spring Fling in honor of its volunteers. The theme was a Karnival with clowns, ring toss, spin the wheel and hula hoops.
The volunteers were treated to breakfast. Several door prizes of gift cards were distributed. The tables were decorated with a popcorn box and inside were a Hershey bar for everyone to take home.
The highlight of the event was the volunteers who were given 10 year awards which included a Kare Bears 10 year pin. Those recipients were
Sherry Atwater, a Coordinator for Unit 40, an office volunteer and a Greeter; Don Belonax, a Coordinator for Unit 51 (along with his wife Jackie) and also works Special Events. Norma Klinger is the Share Bear Facilitator. She makes sure there are enough volunteers and supplies. She heads a very dedicated team of volunteers. Janis Korba is a Coordinator for Unit 27, a Roving Coordinator, a Coordinator Advisor, an office volunteer, a Special Events volunteer and is a Special Volunteer arranging and handling tours to the hospitals, etc. Farida McMaster is a Coordinator for Unit 7 and also a Share Bear Volunteer. Julieta Netzer and Ron Netzer are previous Coordinators. Marilyn Roberts is a Coordinator for Unit 12 and also works on Special Events. Linda Sinley is a Coordinator for Unit 32. Barry Taschner is a Coordinator for Unit 41.
Without our volunteers Kare Bears could not be successful. We wish to thank them again; we are truly indebted to them for all their service.
We also wish to thank our volunteers who helped with this event. They were Gladys Mabey (Chair), Joey Arnold, Grace Cooper, Tom Meek, Sue White and Rayma Scalzo.
