The Joy of the Holidays: Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver Discussion Group

Rayma Scalzo

Our Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver Discussion Group will have a special meeting on December 17 at 9:30 a.m. This month we will be taking some special time to share some holiday cheer and coping tools. Support group facilitators and Christmas elves, Teri Sellers and Sylvia Butler, will be presenting and sharing The Joy of the Holidays plus some helpful tips and information as well as pampering those in attendance.

One of the special presents will be Gayle Allen, a licensed massage therapist, who will be providing free massages to everyone.

We encourage all caregivers to attend this special meeting. It is open to those who care for a loved one at home, at a local care facility or out of state. Too often the stress of the holidays takes over your life as you cope with the day-to-day challenges of caring for someone who has dementia. We want you to take these two hours to relax, gain a new perspective and find the Joy in this holiday season.

Respite Care

We may be able to provide free respite care for those having Alzheimer’s/Dementia disease. This allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group meeting. If you let us know, we will try to arrange for someone to come to your home during the two hour meeting. For this assistance we do ask that you RSVP by Thursday, December 15.

Monthly Breakfast

The caregivers meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. This gives them an opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. Knowing others who are going through the same journey is very beneficial.

Please Note: For the location of the meeting or to RSVP for respite care, please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send an email to [email protected].
