The Jewish High Holidays of 5777/2016 begin on Monday, October 3 (late this year) for Rosh Hashanah followed by Tuesday, October 11 for Kol Nidre and Wednesday, October 12 for Yom Kippur. Our outstanding Rabbi David Mayer will, once again, conduct our annual services in the Tuscany Ballroom.
Our services are a combination of the leadership of Rabbi Mayer and the participation of our attendees. Anyone attending our services can volunteer to participate in the services. They may choose a reading in Hebrew and/or English as well as requesting a Torah honor. This broad participation in the services helps to make our High Holiday Observances so very special to everyone.
Following the Rosh Hashanah service there is a beautiful Kiddish (snack) held in the Chianti Room. It is here that everyone wishes each other L’Shana Tova (Happy New Year), schmoozes and connects with our community. The wonderful array of apples, honey, wine and noshes is second to none.
Ten days after the Rosh Hashanah celebration, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) services are held. These two services are more solemn and include a day of fasting as part of the rituals. Yiskor service is at 10:30 a.m. on Yom Kippur. Attendees, once again, can volunteer to participate in the services.
Here are the facts:
Rosh Hashanah – Monday, October 3, 10:00 a.m.
Kol Nidre – Tuesday, October 11, 6:00 p.m.
Yom Kippur – Wednesday, October 12, 9:00 a.m.
The price for all three services is $60 per adult, $18 per child (12 years old and under).
