May brought warmer weather and visitors from Sun City Grand’s Men’s Nine-Hole Club for a mixer with the PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) on May 11. A tasty lunch served in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom kicked off the event, followed by nine holes of golf on Tuscany Falls East, all played from the Red Tees. Twenty-eight Sun City Golfers joined the intercity event. Results were surprisingly close, with a four-way tie for first place on the Front Nine Flight, with the Back Nine Flight top honors shared by three teams.
Thanks to Alan Hatfield for organizing a great event.
Anticipation of upcoming summer weather prompted the Summer Citizens Kickoff tournament, held on May 25. The format was “Lone Ranger,” with each team member rotating through the “Lone Ranger” position. The team score combined the net score of the “Lone Ranger” with the lowest net of the remaining three members.
First place honors went to the team of John Mazzukelly, Lloyd Abrahams, Gary Houser, and Ray Bender. John Mazzukelly scored an incredible five birdies on the front nine of Tuscany Falls East. A single stroke separated the top two finishing teams.
Thanks to Trevor Ballinger for coordinating the pairings, and to Bill Lansing for providing donuts and juice to energize the golfers.
