Jerry White and his guest Andy Ogens were the overall Traditional Format winners of the 2016 PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association twenty-first annual Member/Guest Tournament. The tourney was held on Thursday, April 28 at Eagle’s Nest and on Friday, April 29 at Tuscany Falls. Immediately after regulation play was concluded on Friday, the overall winners were determined in a playoff held on hole No. 1 of the new nine at Tuscany Falls.

Each two-man team had a choice whether to play traditional stroke play or match play. So we really had two tournaments within a tournament. The Traditional Format consisted of two 18-hole stroke-play rounds. The format for the first round was a Chapman (a modified alternate shot). The format for the second round was a two-man net best ball. A total of 40 teams competed with 14 teams in the first flight and 13 teams in each of the second and third flights.

Flight Winners

Flight 1: 1st place Bill Walenda/Dave Marzullo; 2nd place Jan Cralle/Chris Cralle; 3rd place Jim Wolfe/Mike Ligon

Flight 2: 1st place Ray Measles/Steve Ricks; 2nd place Charlie Kice/Dennis King; 3rd place Fred Schwartz/Bob Schwartz

Flight 3: 1st place Jerry White/Andy Ogens; 2nd place Vince Tobin/Al Tobin; 3rd place Dave Modderman/John Modderman

The three flight winners met on hole No. 1 of the new nine at Tuscany Falls to determine the overall winners. This was the first time in tournament history that this hole was utilized for the playoff. The format was a three-hole net-aggregate with players alternating shots. Three different tees and hole placements were used. The first hole played as a 345 yard par 4. The second hole as a 200 yard par 3 and the final hole as a 100 yard par 3. Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader conducted this playoff.

This new playoff venue made for an exciting finish. The true alternate format is a tough one, especially under pressure. All three teams scored a five on the first hole. Jerry and Andy led after the second hole with a bogey four. Even though Bill and Dave birdied the last hole, Jerry and Andy held on with a par to win the grand prize!

Congratulations to all the winners, especially Jerry and Andy!

We want to thank Paul McGinnis and his greens keeper staff for great playing conditions. As always, thanks to the Food & Beverage staff and managers for all of their efforts. Thanks to Bill Barnard, Jason Whitehill, Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader for all they do for our events.
