Happy Halloween! On Oct. 9 Ken Minichiello greeted everyone, over 90 in attendance, dressed in his prison stripes in the Chianti Room. Looming around were The Grim Reaper aka Ron Olberding, who won best costume, Pharaoh, Queen of the Nile, cowboys, soldiers, vampires, witches, and even the Garretts where she was the surgeon and he wore one of those hospital gowns that don’t close up properly in the back … you know what I mean. Names are redacted to protect the innocent. Thanks to Bob Marchese’s trivia game we now know that Halloween’s country of origin is Ireland, candy corn used to be called chicken feed, and the first jack-o’–lanterns were made out of turnips. Charades saw a few ladies and gents lurching around like Frankenstein. Keith Martino and Vic Leo sold 50/50 tickets and wine stewards Joe Witherup, Ken Russo, and Tom Buck served red and white wine courtesy of realtor Donna Strand, our sponsor extraordinaire. Betsy Rossi, Janice Gerhart, Carol Garrett, Carol Hoeprich, and Jan Frustaglia provided delicious dessert treats. Kay Skripka, Teri Schophoeter, and Sally Ward, all in beautiful costumes, provided outstanding ghostly decorations both on tables and as a Halloween backdrop for photos. There were even closed containers of Halloween candies on each table and members guessed how many were in there, winners taking all.
