Italian American Club meeting and lunch kicks off new year

Lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill was a great success.

Our very popular President Ken Minichiello, at the January 11, 2017 monthly meeting, rose among the clinking glasses to thank us all for coming out and announced during the business meeting events like the Italian Film Series, home-hosted dinners and the Social Steering Committee meeting held in January (we need more members in here to plan Social Events), the “Andiamo” Valentine Party at Charlie and Alice Miller’s home and the Regional Cooking event on February 26 (bring an Italian dish). And don’t forget March has great events including the fabulous Day at the Races at Turf Paradise hosted by our favorite Railbird, Joe Lupo.

The business meeting was followed by the serving of lovely pastries and coffee, water or Vino to dampen the palate before the entertainment by slight-of-hand artist James Pickrell, the Magician, who dazzled us with spectacular card tricks.

Nearly 25% of the membership was present for our first lunch of 2017 held at Carrabba’s Italian Grill and hosted by President Ken Minichiello and his lovely wife, Carolyn. This was our second luncheon visit to Carrabba’s Italian Grill during the past year. The luncheon is best described by the following poetry:

Lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill was another great successo

We dined on everything from Prosciutto to Cioppino

The Wait Staff was grand and they deserve a hand

For serving wonderful Italian Cuisine and some Italian Vino

So until the next lunch in February

May you stay safe and ever wary

So you can join us once again when dining out will reign

And dine with your Italian friends and be merry

For Italian-Americans know how to have fun

And they keep the Blues on the run

It is just about time for me to run out of rhyme

Right here in the Land of the Sun
