Janice Ruth Singleterry

Janice Ruth Singleterry (Joy), 87, of Goodyear, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Hospice of the Valley, Palm Valley Palliative Care Unit in Goodyear.

Janice was born in Camden, New Jersey, on April 18, 1928 and raised in North Vancouver. She married Harold Mason in 1949 and raised three children in Seattle, Albuquerque and California. They settled in California’s Silicon Valley where they were involved in church, school and business activities, forming many friendships that would last a lifetime. Of special significance to Janice was The Beach Bunch, a group of women who met every year for 40 years in Monterey to laugh, cook and talk about life.

Widowed in 1981, Janice married Richard Singleterry in 1984 and together they spent their retirement years traveling the country, enjoying family and friends, taking cruises and spending time at a timeshare in the Florida Keys. Janice and Dick moved to PebbleCreek in 2005 and, after Dick’s passing in 2008, she immersed herself in the PebbleCreek lifestyle, learning to line dance, playing bocce ball and Bunco, swimming and reading. She particularly enjoyed the musical performances in the Renaissance Theatre. She loved to travel and had a special place in her heart for Alaska where she cruised four times.

Janice’s ability to rise above adversity, her positive attitude and joyful countenance won her the admiration and love of many friends. She is survived by her children: Peter Mason (Virginia) of Woodside, California; Jeff Mason (Jamie) of Livermore, California and Lyndie Warner (Paul) of Goodyear, Arizona, as well as her four grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
