Myron Heinle

Myron “Duffy” Michael Heinle, passed away December 28, 2018 in Goodyear, AZ. He leaves behind his wife, Barb; two daughters, Tracy Knos (Dave), Allison Gonzales (Ed); five beautiful grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Heinle (Kathy), Gaylen Heinle (Sandy) and a sister Gale Deutsch. Duffy was born in Riverdale, ND to Herbert Heinle and Rudy Burchell on September 18, 1952. He attended Casselton High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts at Minot State.

He joined the Bismarck Police Department in 1975 and continued his service to the community until he retired from duty as Deputy Chief in 2007. He was dedicated throughout his 32 years of service to his community and his family at the Bismarck Police Department. He spoke often of how proud he was to have served his community and his fellow officers.

After retiring from the Bismarck Police Department, he was hired as a contractor for Basin Electric where he worked from December 2007 to December 2014, before completely retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren in Arizona and spending his summers at the family cabin on Lake Sakakawea. He loved fishing, hunting with his brothers and just sitting watching the beautiful sunset. God bless you, Duffy! We will miss you!

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019, at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N. 6th Street, Bismarck, ND 58501. Thomas James

Thomas “Bill” James, age 89, a resident of PebbleCreek for 25 years, passed away on December 7, 2018. Bill was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 30, 1929. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked for United Airlines for 38 years.

Bill enjoyed golf, country dancing, cruising and reading. He loved to tell everyone that he had the first beer served at Eagle’s Nest Bar when it opened. He could be found most days sitting at the middle bar stool.

Bill is survived by his partner Melanie and his sons David (Suzanne) and Mark (Margo).

David Mabey

David Stanley Mabey, age 76 of Goodyear, AZ died December 21, 2018 in Avondale, AZ. He was born June 2, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to Elmer and Dolores Mabey. David received a Bachelor’s degree in education and drama and a Master’s degree in adult education. He worked as a human resources consultant specializing in compensation and benefits and taught human resources at Ottawa University in Kansas. He also taught business, economics and English at Estrella High School in Avondale, AZ for five years.

David was addicted to reading, politics and Fox News. He was a history buff and had a strong interest in the constitution and American government. He always carried a pocket-sized version of the constitution wherever he went. He loved to learn and never shrunk away from learning about a new subject even if it was difficult to grasp. He was particularly proud that he knew a lot of useless knowledge and was often urged to try out his expertise on Jeopardy.

David was an avid hiker and loved backpacking, camping and visiting national monuments. He was never afraid to try new things and enjoyed participating in sports like golf and pickleball, even if he wasn’t very skilled at them. He liked playing pool, canasta and mahjong. He was an excellent cook and was especially known for his homemade cannelloni.

David met his wife, Gladys at a ski club in Chicago. They were married for almost 37 years. Together they volunteered for Kare Bears at PebbleCreek. He is survived by his wife, Gladys M. Mabey; daughters, Kris and Kara Mabey; sons, Jason and Jonas Mabey; step-sons, Thomas, James and Michael Harper and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Betsy Walbert

On December 3, 2018, our dear Betsy Walbert went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind her loving husband, Dave, of 40 years, a daughter, Linda Tanklege of Bermuda Dunes, California, three grandsons and five great grandchildren.

Betsy and Dave moved from Burbank, California to PebbleCreek in May of 1996. Soon after, Betsy became a member of Kare Bears and served for over eight years. She had many loving friends who found her to be a very special lady. She will be very much missed by family and all who knew her.

A graveside service was held on December 21st at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, with a luncheon to follow at Pebble Creek Eagles Nest C.C. Dining Room.
