The next meeting of the Men’s Christian Fellowship of PebbleCreek (MCFPC) will be Wednesday, March 1, at 7:30 a.m. in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room. The MCFPC is a group of nearly 150 Christian men that meets the first Wednesday of each month, October through April, inviting a variety of guest presenters to speak on timely topics such as mentoring to college students, youth involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, prison ministry, and fighting for religious freedoms in the courts. The March 4 guest speaker is Harold Patterson, president and founder of International Hope Builders (IHP).

For the past 40 years, Harold has been the principal contractor of Rocky Mountain Construction Specialties, focusing on larger projects such as churches, medical office complexes, and commercial centers. The International Hope Builders was formed in 2010 with the emphasis on highest possible standards, and works to fight the battle of human suffering and homelessness in the most resource-starved parts of the world.

With headquarters in Arvada, Colo., IHP works in collaborative partnerships to meet the critical need for affordable, energy efficient, and sustainable building solutions. Projects use the Lazarian World Homes Building System, which utilizes a form of Styrofoam building blocks that allows for quick assembly of affordable homes. IHP projects to date include some 300 homes, 19 schools, 4 clinics, 16 senior housing units, a civic center, and community feeding center with recent initiatives in Honduras in areas affected by Hurricane Nate. IHP attempts to meet global needs through humanitarian construction and is a 501(c)(3) organization.

The Fellowship’s February guest speaker Benjamin Bull was joined by attorney Peter Gentala from the National Center’s law office, fighting sex trafficking, child abuse, illegal pornography and other forms of exploitation.  Bull discussed the challenges and some early success in fighting online pornography organizations using outdated clemency protections.

In addition to monthly meetings the MCFPC features outreach activities, including traveling to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise. The next volunteer opportunity is Thursday, March 16. For more information contact Jim Sykes at 614-395-4907. Weekly Bible studies are also available and more information can be obtained from Neil Smith at [email protected]. Fellowship members will be taking part in the annual PebbleCreek parking lot sale on Saturday, March 4 and welcome the opportunity to answer any questions about the organization.

All men of PebbleCreek are welcome and invited to attend. The Tuscany Falls Chianti Room is located between the Ballroom and the library, and coffee is provided. For more information contact President Igor Shpudejko at [email protected] or 602-384-6496.
