Hiking in the Superstitions seldom disappoints but having to cope with I-10 commuter traffic causes the hiking club to hike these iconic mountains less frequently than a few years ago. However, on Oct. 14, six PebbleCreek “B” hikers headed east to enjoy one of their favorite hikes, an 8.5-mile hike with roughly 2,200 feet of elevation gain. The hike was a loop which started and ended at the Peralta Trailhead and passed just south of Weaver’s Needle, a well-known landmark named for early explorer Pauline Weaver. Talk about a table with a view, the group enjoyed lunch in the rocks below the needle on a comfortable sunny day before returning to the Peralta Trailhead.
