The Hiking Club conducts several overnight trips during the season and in November, 20 hikers and seven non-hikers enjoyed four busy days in Palm Springs hiking, sightseeing and even people-watching at the weekly Thursday night Village Fest. Fall weather was great and the hikers were able to hike in several interesting areas, including Coachella Valley Preserve, Indian Canyons, Santa Rosa Mountains and Joshua Tree National Park. Hikes had been planned in Mecca Hills but these had to be changed at the last minute because of lingering flood damage from post-monsoon rain; Joshua Tree provided a nice alternative on the trip home (although it also suffered some damage).
