If you have driven south on Estrella Parkway toward the Estrella Star Tower, you have noticed extensive residential development activity on the north side of the road. The sales office for Lucero has a beautiful mural promoting Estrella Lakes, although there are no lakes in the immediate area. In addition to the houses under construction, there also are volunteer workers actively constructing almost 10 miles of hiking trails on the hills behind the development, several of which include attractive hand-painted decorative rocks. Folks from PebbleCreek explored most of these trails on two hikes on May 4 and May 6 to create maps based on GPS tracks. These trails can be combined in numerous ways depending on the distance and elevation gain desired and provide great views of the Valley and White Tanks from the hilltops. This area provides yet another good hiking area close to PebbleCreek.
