The temperature in Phoenix soared to 116 degrees on July 24 but four PC hikers found a unique way to escape the heat by going on a scenic and refreshing hike along West Clear Creek just southeast of Camp Verde. Although 10 miles, the hike was reasonably easy but required crossing the creek four times and you can tell from the picture that the hikers probably would have liked even more excuses to play in the clear, cool water. The club experiences fun hikes five days a week during the regular season, September through April, with a hike for almost every level of fitness, and challenges the Arizona summer with two exploratory hikes a week during the summer. Visit the club’s website at pchikers.org for more information and pictures.
