On Thursday, September 21, in honor of the last day of this brutal summer, 48 PCM9GA Summer Survivors competed in a standard scramble format tournament on the Eagle’s Nest Front Nine; however, this was to be played from the red tees! Each player was required to have two of his drives used during the nine hole event. One would think that playing from the shorter tees would generally improve the team scores; however, that did not appear to be the case.

The scores were quite close, with the team of Norm Mercer, Dick Fulton, Gil Butson and Dave Kennedy coming in first place with a team score of 31. In second place, with a 32, was the team of Fred Schmidt, John Mitchell, Jim Quattrone and Joey Romero. This team also won the Pace of Play Award rolling in with a one-hour and forty minute round!

Nearly everyone else’s team scored 33! Not really, but four teams split the vast winnings at third place with that score. They were Team 18 with Bruce Ruder, Russ Georgesen, Bruce Hulbert and Richard Rodgers; Team 4 with Mike D’Onofrio, John Craven, Bob Mantucca and Casimir Kosiara; Team 5A with Rick Goodwin, Dave Eckert, Mike Nadon and Bill Gray and Team 5B with Gary Draus, Rob Risdon, Clint Alston and Clay Troxell.

Closest to the Pin winners were John Craven at No. 4 and Fred Schmidt at No 8. All players enjoyed breakfast refreshments after the tournament.
