Want bigger pots for your courtyard? Think we should ban bougainvilleas? PebbleCreek neighbors, you can make a difference! Now is the time to share your suggestions with the Architectural and Landscape Committee. “Our Guidelines are not written in stone as some folks seem to think,” shared Bill Halte, Vice Chairman and Manager of the Architectural and Landscape Committee (ALC). “We take a look at the guidelines every year and recommend revisions based on decorating and landscaping trends, changes in State and Local rules and, most importantly, resident requests – so please send us your ideas.”
Over the summer Bill and his team will review the current Guidelines and draft recommended changes. In the fall, the ALC Team will host community meetings to present the proposed changes and gather additional input before presenting the changes to the HOA Board for final approval and implementation in 2018.
Complying with the ALC Guidelines can sometimes seem confusing, especially when something that once was permitted is now restricted. “For example,” said Bill, “wall art was permitted in the front until 2003 when it was restricted. So, we’ve got some homes with wall art that was approved and installed prior to 2003 and thus ‘grandfathered.’ Wall art that was installed but not approved prior to 2003 must be taken down as it is the Guidelines at time of permit request that is followed. So even though your neighbor may have wall art in front, you cannot. I know it can seem contradictory, but the Guidelines are always evolving and that’s why we need resident input.”
One change Bill said his team is contemplating for next year is increasing the size of pots residents can place in their front courtyards. When asked about the possibility of banning bougainvilleas (the bane of my pool-owning friends) Bill chuckled, “some folks love them, others not so much, and I do get a surprising number of requests to ban the bougainvillea from PebbleCreek. But unless we get an overwhelming number of requests this summer, they probably won’t be banned anytime soon.”

The purpose of the Architectural and Landscape Committee (ALC) is to ensure that the ongoing visual character of PebbleCreek remains consistent with the overall plan of the community – while allowing individual expressions in landscaping and property decorating which is harmonious to the community. The Board of Directors appoints the Chairman and ALC members annually. All members of the committee are PebbleCreek homeowners and the Chairperson must be a member of the HOA Board of Directors.
