Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the Irish American Club!

Amy Volstromer

March is an exciting month for the Irish American Club. Two of the club’s most popular events, the Emerald Ball, held on St. Patrick’s Day, and the Annual Charity Golf Tournament, on March 3, give the club members an opportunity to celebrate Irish culture, gather socially, and honor their commitment to give back to our community.

On March 3, the Tuscany Falls golf course will be filled with people donning their best Wearin’ of the Green in the hopes of winning prizes, having fun, and most importantly supporting our charitable efforts. It is the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year!

On March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, a very important day in Irish history, members will gather in the Tuscany Ballroom for the formal Emerald Ball, always a favorite event for our members.

Both events, along with several others throughout the year, require many volunteers to be successful. To celebrate and show our appreciation to our volunteers, we created a Volunteer of the Month program. In 2023, we honored several club members, Ken Kurtz, Wayne and Carolyn Moore—our reliable 50-50 team, Sandra Hand—our Reservation Manager extraordinaire, Donna Gillen—our Sunshine Lady, Hooley host, and part of the Before & After team, Roberta Diles—our Before & After chair, who always delivers in her Wearin’ of the Green on the golf course, Ric Sarro—our audiovisual genius, Theresa Carter—a Hooley host, a member of the Before & After team, and co-chair of the Emerald Ball last year, Susan Harris—the golf tournament Excel wizard, Nikki Forbes-Robinson—our events budget manager and former volunteer coordinator and last, but not least, the team of Ron Wanless, Jim Schleimer, and Tom MacKenzie—all hardworking volunteers of our charity golf fundraiser.

In the words of Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

Buíochas (pronounced bwee-kus)—Thank You!
