On December 19 we held our annual Christmas party at the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. After a delicious dinner, we danced all evening with the tunes of Tommy Holloway. Many door prizes were given out to the guests. Jerry Santy introduced the new board members: John Flynn is the new tournament director, taking over for Dan Tyryfter; and Maggie Eggleston is the new treasurer, taking over for JoAnne Braun.
Our Souper Tennis Tournament/Social is scheduled for Saturday, January 17 at the Tuscany Tennis Center. All tennis courts (both Eagle’s Nest and Tuscany) will be used for the tennis tournament. Play will commence at 10:00 a.m. followed by a lunch of three choices of soup and other refreshments. The tournament will have between 66 and 72 players and a total of 92 people have signed up for the lunch.
Mark your calendars for a competitive Mixed Doubles Tournament on February 21 and 22. Depending on the number of entrants, it may just be a one day tournament. There will be a social gathering with food and refreshments after the completion of the tournament.
John Flynn is working with tennis clubs at Sun City West, Sun City Grand and Sun City Festival to set up competitions by level of play. More information will be upcoming in the future.

Ladies drop-in is every Wednesday at Eagle’s Nest at 8:30 a.m. We will possibly be adding another day for ladies drop-in. For information contact JoAnne Braun at 480-370-7310; nonmembers are welcome.
Two programs, Thursday night mixed doubles and The Comfort Court, are at 6:45 p.m. every Thursday at Tuscany. The Comfort Court is for beginner players or players returning from injury or medical leave. This is a noncompetitive way to ease into the tennis atmosphere. Sign up for Thursday night tennis by emailing Bernadine Helriegel at [email protected]. Nonmembers are welcome.
Tennis Club meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Tuscany Tennis Center. Jerry Santy is our club president and can be contacted at 623-271-7996. Please attend the meetings to address your ideas or questions. The Board members want to hear from you!
Tennis Club membership is $30 for the year which includes league play, use of ball machine and participation in monthly club socials. Social membership is $15 per year.
