Dave and Trudy Chambers
Who would have believed it? In 1967, Dave Chambers arrived in New York City on October 1, to recruit qualified candidates for the Celanese Corporation while keeping an eye on his dream to qualify as a professional golfer. It was there at Celanese that he and Traudl/Trudy Steiger worked together in the same personnel department. On December 1, Dave asked Trudy if she had ever eaten at Lüchow‘s. She had not and after breaking another date for that Friday night, she agreed to meet him at that famous German restaurant on 14th Street. That very evening, Dave proposed marriage…and she accepted! “They” said it would never work but marry they did on April 27, 1968.
This past April 7, their three children and respective spouses Scott/Kerry, Todd/Stephanie, Andrea/Eric as well as four grandchildren Keely, Haley, Tyler and Elijah gathered family, relatives and friends to celebrate and honor their 50 years of marriage through skits, songs, stories and toasts. Dave’s milestone for becoming an octogenarian on March 6, was thrown in for good measure. A wonderful time was had by all!
