Halloween was a barrel of laughs at our Saturday social! Choosing the winners of the costume contest was difficult. We ended up with four contestants that were most creative! The social/tournament had a huge turnout as 88 members attended. John Flynn organized another fun format with 60 players. 32 women and 28 men were arranged in six groups of 10 with most of the matches as mixed doubles. Jeanne Schimmelpfennig once again served a delicious assortment of pizza and salads which were gobbled up by everyone!
Our last social/tournament of the year, November 19, was action packed! The Thanks for Tennis social is a Thanksgiving Food drive for the Agua Fria Food bank. Last year we collected 200 pounds of food. Another great menu was planned by Jeanne Schimmelpfennig. After lunch we had a Physical Therapist discuss safer moves on the court.
Our Christmas gala dinner dance is Friday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Cost for members is $25 per person and $35 for non-member invited guests. Sign up on our website and drop your check off at the Tuscany Tennis Center drop box by December 3. Check in and cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. with four delicious choices on the menu. Entertainment starts at 8:00 p.m. Hank Tokarz will play a variety of songs for dancing. Door prizes are raffled off. It is not too late to sign up! Go to our website www.pebblecreektennis.org
What better time of the year to donate your old racquet and bags in this giving holiday season. Goodyear Parks and Recreation is still accepting donations for less fortunate youths who are interested in learning tennis. Drop off your donation in the Tuscany Tennis Center. The Tennis Board thanks everyone who has donated to help this worthy program.
The men’s drop in is growing with many new players. The snowbirds are back and we have many more joining. They play every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Eagle’s Nest courts. For more information contact Ken Minichiello at 419-356-4010; non-members welcome.
