Gun Club Shenanigans

It’s hard to keep up with all of the shenanigans in our Gun Club but here’s another one.

We tried out some new poker targets that looked like a dart board but with a BIG center of four ACES.

How to play: First you have to pony up $3 to put in the winners pot. Then at 10 yards shoot seven pistol shots; choose your best five shot cards; hope for a winning hand!

We have Poker Shoots every first Friday at Joe Foss Shooting Complex after we have practiced a little with our Fun Targets like Tic Tac Toe, Sink the Battleship, or Dot Torture. That last one is not for the faint of heart!

Well, we finally figured out the new non-card-poker-dart-board-style target and came up with a three-way split on the winnings!

After all that we took a vote, (maybe that vote was just Steve and I and Barri who was in our car heading home with us), and decided we liked the ‘Deck of Cards’ target better than this one because the winning hand is more random. That’s where you shoot at the back outline of the mixed deck of cards so you don’t know what you’re hitting. This new target was more of a ‘steely-eyed, watch your breathing before pulling the trigger’ kind of target. Still fun, just not the same as the target with cards.

The Cupid Shoot Contest for Trap Shooters will be Tuesday, Feb. 10.

We’ll let you know how that turns out and what the surprise winnings will be. I’m guessing there might be some chocolate involved…

We’ve also got a 25 and 50 yard Rifle Competition coming up in February with cash payouts and BIG bragging rights!. We use the Lewis system for scoring (see our other article in this month’s Post about that).

If you’ve been thinking about shooting again you might think about joining up with this crazy bunch. We’ll even let you try us out as a guest for a shooting day one time before deciding if you want to join. As long as you are a PebbleCreek resident, just send an email to us and let us know you are interested. Or look at the HOA website to see our club outline.
