Members of PebbleCreek’s Gun Club kicked off their first shooting competition of the season on Nov. 5. Shooters competed in three categories; two were based on the type of ammunition, and the third was exclusively for members 80 years or older. Members with the top five scores in each contest won cash prizes. Scores were very close in many cases!

Pistol Contest Scores

The top three scores in each category are listed.

Rimfire top scores: Scott Wood 186, Bob Lukes 178, Phil Batton 177

Centerfire top scores: Bob Lukes 172, Pete Bahnmueller 168, Phil Batton 166

80+ top scores: Richard Cameron 197, Phil Batton 189, Dave Paulsen 186

In 2019, the Gun Club had about 144 members. Today, there are nearly 250. During this period, membership growth among women has increased by 250 percent, making them the fastest-growing demographic. This increased interest is also reflected in the fact that most students taking basic firearms courses are women.

Shooters of all levels, beginner through expert, are welcome to join us for trap/skeet shooting Tuesdays and pistol/rifle shooting Fridays at Joe Foss public shooting range in Buckeye. Contact Jerry Younker, club president, at [email protected], for more information.
