The PebbleCreek Irish American Club is hosting its seventh annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, March 13, 2016. The charities who will receive the benefits from this year’s tournament are The Southwest Lending Closet and the New Life Center.
The Southwest Lending Closet in Avondale has loaned home health equipment free to several thousand clients. Monetary and equipment donations from the public are greatly appreciated. Most of the customers of The Southwest Lending Closet are from the southwest Valley; however, they have had customers from Wickenburg, Wittman, Quartzite, Ajo and Prescott. They do not turn anyone away and customers do not need prescriptions to borrow the equipment.
The New Life Center was founded based upon saving lives, building futures and empowering women and children escaping domestic violence. One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Every 44 minutes in Arizona a child witnesses a domestic violence incident. Nationwide the cost of intimate partner violence exceeds $5.8 billion annually. New Life Center provides more than 34,000 nights of safety, shelter and services to more than 900 women and children on average each year. Over 90% of the women completing the program do not return to the abusive environment from which they came.
